  • Susanne Manaigre appointed VP of Network Rail Consulting Canada [2/13/2017] Manaigre, who will be based in Toronto and report to President-North America Ron Hartman, is a native Canadian whose career in the railway industry spans 30 years. Most recently she was chief of operations for GO Transit/Metrolinx, the regional public transportation system in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area). View Press Release.
  • Elaine Chao Named U.S. Secretary of Transportation [1/2/2017]  Elaine Chao has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate and sworn in to serve as the 18th U.S. Secretary of Transportation to lead the Department of Transportation. View Press Release.
  • AECOM appoints Flowers transit practice leader [1/31/2017] Prior to joining FTA, Carolyn Flowers served as CEO and Director of Public Transit for CATS (Charlotte Area Transit System), where she was responsible for countywide rail and bus transit planning and management. View Press Release.
  • Urszula Soucie Name COO of REMSA [1/27/2017] Urszula Soucie was promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer of the Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association (REMSA). View Press Release.
  • Begeman named STB Acting Chairman [1/26/2017] U.S. Surface Transportation Board Member Ann Begeman on Jan. 25 was named Acting Chairman by President Donald J. Trump. Begeman, a Republican, is currently serving a second, five-year term as an STB Member following her recent nomination by President Barack Obama on Dec. 7, 2016, and her unanimous confirmation by the U.S. Senate on Dec. 9, 2016.   • Tanya Adams Promoted to VP the Chicago office of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff [1/18/2017]  Ms. Adams is community relations and diversity manager for the Central U.S. region of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff. She is responsible for a variety of marketing, networking and business development initiatives, including implementation of regional diversity programs, client relations, public relations and community engagement.   • Sarah Feinberg Confirmed as FRA Administrator [11/2/2015] League of Railway Industry Women (LRIW) President Jodi Heldt applauded the Oct. 28, 2015, U.S. Senate confirmation of Sarah Feinberg as administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). “The League of Railway Industry Women congratulates Sarah Feinberg in her new role as FRA administrator. As only the second woman to lead the agency since it was established in 1966, Feinberg will have the tough but critical job of developing and enforcing rail safety regulations and administering federal grants to improve our nation’s rail infrastructure.   • Norfolk Southern’s EVP CIO Deb Butler to retire Oct. 1 [8/5/2015]Deborah “Deb” Butler, Norfolk Southern Corp.‘s executive vice president planning and chief information officer, has announced her plan to retire Oct. 1, the company said. Butler joined NS in 1978 as a customer account auditor. She advanced to positions of increasing responsibility in operations before being named assistant vice president transportation customer services in 2000, and vice president customer service in 2002. The company appointed her EVP of planning and chief information officer in 2007. View Press Release
  • TTCI Promotes Kari Gonzales to Director of Software, Products and Testing Services [6/17/2015] In this new position, Kari will take on the overall management responsibility for the continued improvement , integration  and standardization of many of Transportation Technology Center, Inc.’s internal processes that affect daily business activities and longer term strategic planning. Kari was also a Progressive Railroading 2014 Rising Star.
  • ASLRRA Welcomes Kathy Keeney as VP, Membership & Exhibit Services [5/27/2015]  The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) announced that it has brought on board long-time ASLRRA contractor and exhibition manager Kathy Keeney as Vice President, Membership & Exhibit Services. Her focus will be to evaluate and promote the membership value proposition for ASLRRA’s over 1,000 members  and bring its successful annual Connections Conference and Exhibition planning in-house for ASLRRA after more than a decade of external show management.   • TriMet welcomes two new Board members [5/26/2015] Two women have been appointed to the TriMet board of directors, representing Southwest and Southeast Portland. Shelley Martin and Lori Irish Bauman were appointed by Gov. Kate Brown and confirmed by the State Senate. They begin their terms immediately. View Press Release

  • Sarah Feinberg Named Acting Administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) [1/12/2015] Feinberg succeeds Joseph C.   • UP’s Lynn Kelley Honored as a Woman Worth Watching by Profiles in Diversity Journal  [10/20/2014] Union Pacific Railroad’s Lynn Kelley is recognized in Profiles in Diversity Journal’s 13th annual Women Worth Watching feature. As vice president-Supply and Continuous Improvement, Kelley is responsible for purchasing, strategic sourcing and the company’s industrial engineering activities, as well as quality and continuous improvement activities.   • Judy Petry Promoted to President & GM at Farmrail  [1/2014] Congratulations to Judy Petry, who has been promoted to president and general manager of Farmrail, the Oklahoma-based short line operator. She had been long-time controller of the company. Judy was the 2008 recipient of the LRIW Outstanding Woman of the Year award.

  • Polly Trottenberg Named NYC’s Department of Transportation Commissioner [1/2/2014] Trottenberg is a longtime leader in the transportation industry and a supporter of women. Previous to this announcement, she served as under secretary for policy at the U.S. Department of Transportation and is an active member of WTS International.  LRIW Second Vice President, Jodi Heldt, sent Trottenberg a letter of congratulations on behalf of her company Whiting Corp.  She writes, “It is refreshing to see a woman with demonstrated leadership qualities be rewarded with this appointment. Whiting fully supports and encourages the advancement of women in the in the transportation industry and I am proud to represent Whiting by serving as Second Vice President of the League of Railway Industry Women.”  View Full Article at METRO.
  • Kaleigh Reyes Promoted to Solutions Consultant at GE Transportation [11/15/13] Kaleigh Reyes was promoted to the role of Solutions Consultant at GE Transportation.  In this role, she will support the RailDOCS suite, which is part of GET’s Optimization Solutions business focused on the rail industry. Reyes sits on LRIW Board of Directors as First Vice President.
